We took our little short-stack to the beach for the first time. We drove down to Half Moon Bay because we knew there was a dog-friendly cove there that was protected by a breakwater. I initially wanted to take him to Heart’s Desire in Tomales, but it didn’t allow dogs.
He got to experience new things like digging in sand, playing with dried kelp, and running away from the little waves that would come in. He loves the water, but it seems he’s kind of afraid of the ocean. Understandably so, with those little legs of his!
We also took him to one of my favorite lighthouses, Point Montara. After spending the last few years writing, formatting, and releasing my poetry book about Californian lighthouses, these lighthouses have become very important to me, so of course I’d want to bring my little pooch to one of them! I thought Point Montara would be a fitting lighthouse since the premises are dog-friendly and the tower itself, like Odo, is short.
